Ayyyyo. 2019 is coming to an end, and I’ve been doing some end-of-year self reflection. One thing that keeps coming up for me is the concept of self-limiting beliefs.
If this term is new to you, self-limiting beliefs are set perceptions you have about yourself and the world around you. They help form your view of what you think is possible and impossible. They’re “limiting” because they often hold you back from getting what you really want. Take it from me.
I’m reallyyy good at talking myself out of doing things. I’ve had goals for over a decade that I still haven’t reached because I don’t believe in myself. But now that I’m a bit older, I’ve been able to identify this pattern and see how damaging it can be. And ya’ll, I don’t want to hold myself back anymore. I don’t want YOU to hold yourself back anymore.
So, here’s what we’re gonna do. When setting goals for next year, let’s start by answering this question:
What would your life look like in 5 years if anything was possible?
Really stop and think about it. Let yourself dream big. Don’t discount ANY idea. And then whatever your final answer is, no matter how scary seems, build your goals around THAT.
Think about it – every single day, there are people out there doing things they never thought they could. There are people accomplishing things that everyone said was impossible. There are people with less experience, less knowledge, and less passion doing the things that YOU want to do, just because they believe in themselves and refuse to give up.
You deserve to live a life that you absolutely adore. And you have the power to create that for yourself.
So, going into 2020, look at your goals with a fresh perspective. Look inside yourself, identify those deep deep desires, and then just fucking go for it.
