Most of us parents would agree - SLEEP is KEY to happiness with kids.
When we’re sleep-deprived and grumpy, we drink coffee.
When they’re sleep-deprived and grumpy, they turn into highly irrational tiny dictators with no volume control. #amiright? 🙋♀️ So, when taking ✈️, 🚂 and 🚙 all over the world, miniature screaming tyrants don’t make for fun times.
SLEEP. How do we do sleep with toddlers in strange environments?
I get complimented on nearly every flight we take for how calm and peaceful our kiddos are. Why?
Because they are usually well-rested and feeling emotionally secure, no matter their physical location.
My secret starts at home. 🏡
I do everything possible to create simple bedtime environments and routines that can be easily mobilized or duplicated:
-BLANKETS. They both have comfort blankets that we take EVERYWHERE.
-WATER BOTTLES. They each have a bed-time water bottle that’s been ALL over the world. -PACIFIERS. They both are/have been binky babies, because that’s one of the simplest forms of security I can give them.
-SOUND/LIGHT MACHINES. So helpful once you’ve arrived at your destination and settle into unfamiliar sleeping quarters.
A month or two before a big trip you feel nervous about, whether it’s a 2hr flight or a 30hr itinerary, start implementing items or routines around your child’s bedtime that you can easily take/imitate anywhere.
I’ll continue to share tips sometimes about cool products and airplane hacks that have saved my sanity over the years!
